Paid internship · Florien, Louisiana · Bayou Semantics
The Opportunity
Bayou Semantics is an AI engineering firm based in Florien, Louisiana. We build exciting, innovative AI applications — the kind of projects that make you want to come to work every day.
We're looking for a high school student who wants to learn what this work actually looks like from the inside. Not as an observer. As a contributor. You'll write real code, work on real products, and learn how AI gets built from idea to production.
This is a paid position. You'll earn while you learn, and you'll walk away with experience that most people don't get until college — or after.
What You'll Do
Work directly with an AI engineer on exciting, innovative products
Contribute to real projects that ship to real users — not classroom exercises
Learn how AI applications get built end-to-end, from idea to production
Write real code in Python, TypeScript, and React — and see it go live
Who We're Looking For
Interest in coding
Maybe you've taken a class, watched some tutorials, or tinkered on your own. Any exposure counts — we'll teach you the rest.
A feel for numbers
Statistics, data science, or just being good at math. Formal coursework is a plus, not a requirement.
Curiosity that doesn't quit
AI moves fast. You'll need to enjoy figuring things out on your own.
A strong work ethic
This is real work, not job shadowing. You show up, you contribute, you grow.
What You'll Get
Paid position
Real compensation for real work. Not "experience" as payment.
Hands-on mentorship
Learn directly from an engineer with 10 years of experience building AI systems.
Portfolio-worthy projects
Walk away with work you can show colleges, future employers, or scholarship committees.
A head start on the future
AI engineering is one of the fastest-growing fields in the world. You'll be years ahead of your peers.
Who You'll Work With
I'm Cody Kingham, the owner and chief engineer at Bayou Semantics. I've spent 10 years building AI systems — for big tech companies, research labs, and now for businesses right here in Louisiana.
I started this company because I believe the tools that power the biggest companies in the world should be accessible to everyone. And I believe the next generation of engineers should get a real shot at learning this craft early — not just from a classroom, but from the work itself.
If you're the kind of person who tinkers, who stays up late working on a project because you want to see it work — I want to hear from you.
Ready to get started?
Send us a short email about yourself — who you are, what you've built or studied, and why this interests you. A resume helps, but isn't required.
